Week begining 25th of May |
WALT (what we are learning today)Recount of the underarm throw and
catch |
DescriptionThis is a revision lesson for some students but for many preps who did not log onto the website for many reasons it will be considered new learning. Our goal is to keep our hands together and make a nest for the ball to land. We will be using underarm throws. Our focus is to maintain eye contact with the object at all times.T
|
EquipmentWe will be using a bean bag for the throwing part of the session and sashes for the warm up activity.
|
Warm up:
Fruit Salad
Activity:
Model hand placement for chest catch and rolling object catch.
Emphasize direction fingers are pointed and importance of maintaining eye contact with the object |
Challenge:
Divide group into pairs.
Begin with partners standing opposite 2 metres apart. Slide beanbag along the ground for partner to intercept and slide back. (check on individual student progress and give feedback. When students become confident they can increase their distance apart. ( All throws must slide along ground, This will help students understand timing of release ) |
When children are showing ability in slide throws introduce the throw to the chest using underarm action and the nest hand pattern for catching. Reinforce this is about accuracy and not just throwing as hard or far as you can. We are aiming to lob the beanbag at our partners chest.
