Week beginning 24 th August |
WALT ( we are learning to)Balance our bodies in different places and situations
|
DescriptionToday's first video is going to warm you up and get you moving.
Video 2 is going to require some thinking. this little boy does lots of tricky movements, try to follow along. Video 3 is about getting outside and getting some fresh air and finding some different opportunities to balance on one leg. There's also a couple that I recommend doing inside like putting on your pants. LOL. It's really important for kids to be able to dress themselves when they are at school age. I've had students in grade 2 who couldn't dress themselves at swimming which was stressful for them. So now that we are in lock-down its a great time to practise. If your child likes a challenge use a stop watch to time how long it takes to undress and re-dress. Make it fun. Set a world record!!!!!! |
EquipmentNo equipment needed this week.

Challenge:
Today we are continuing some balancing movements.

Here are some easy ways to encourage balance practice. :
1. Walk up and down stairs – each time you take a step you are balancing on one foot. 2. Ride a bicycle – this task requires postural control and balance 3. Ride a scooter – obviously three wheeled scooters are easier than two wheeled scooters 4. Walk on uneven terrain – walk on grass, rocks or dirt. Walk on uneven ground, for a bigger challenge on sand. 5. Play a game of kickball or soccer. You need to stand on one foot to kick the ball. 6. Play follow the leader practicing walking fast, slow, backwards and sideways. 7. Pretend to be a tight rope walker – Walk heel to toe along any line, try on your toes or your heels. 8. Try putting on your pants on standing up – this is a real balance challenge to stand on one foot while putting the other leg in pants. Want to make it harder? Try putting socks on while standing without falling. 9. Walk along curbs or lines on the footpath. |
